DEAN TAMBLING I am a native of Grundy County. I was born and raised in Gardner. My interest in media started at a young age. I was always eager to listen to the radio, especially Chicago Cubs games, watch television news and read the paper. I graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School in 1998. I attended Illinois State University where I worked at the school student run radio and television stations. During my final semester I served as an intern at WJBC Radio in Bloomington. I graduated from ISU in 1992 and took a job as news director at WGCY Radio in Gibson City IL. That lasted one year before I moved to Morris and served as news director from 1993 to 2004. During that time I also did play-by-play of area high school football, basketball and baseball games and co hosted a weekly sports talk show. I remain on staff in a part time capacity and enjoy filling in for news and continuing to do play-by-play when needed.
I am currently an agent/investment solution representative for COUNTRY Financial. My office is located in Coal City. I offer multiple lines of insurance and financial services. I enjoy helping people make sure they are protected if something happens to their home and auto or in the case of the death of a loved one or business partner. I also assist people with planning for retirement and saving for their children’s college education.
I married Julia Schoenwald in 1998. We currently reside in Morris with our four children. Alaina, 20, who attends Western Illinois University, Corey, 17, who attends Morris High School, Drew, 5, who attends White Oak Elementary School, and Sophie, 3, who attends pre school at the United Methodist Church in Morris. We recently took the Metra train from Joliet to Chicago and spent the afternoon at the Shedd Aquarium.
Drew and Sophie loved that. We have also traveled to Traverse City, Michigan and Asheville, North Carolina during the past two summers.
